Pathogen risk is increasing. Diagnosis is still too slow.

Today, infection diagnosis can still takes 3-4 days and usually requires a full microbiology lab. During that delay, patients may receive the wrong first treatment, infections can spread, and antibiotic resistance can worsen.

Imagine: Near real-time infection detection at the point of care

GeneCapture is revolutionizing the diagnosis of pathogens. Our CAPTURE technology identifies 200+ pathogens from raw samples and determines the effective antimicrobial treatment in roughly three hours without a centralized lab, cold chain, or specialized technician.

What this technology unlocks: We bring diagnostics to the patients, not the patients to the lab. Detects 200 pathogens in less than an hour for less than $20. Followed by optional Antibiotic Susceptibility Test. Enables intelligent outbreak monitoring.

Identify the pathogen

Starting with a urine, swab, or blood sample, GeneCapture can can identify the pathogen in 90 minutes. This portable platform does requires no refrigeration, no laboratory, and no special medical training.

The cartridge, which is the heart of the platform, has a large library of pathogen probes. We can test for more than 200 pathogens, and we’re developing more now. Also, we can test for Pathogen X, meaning that if there is a new pandemic or biothreat, we can design and deploy a probe quickly. We’re proud to partner with the military to prepare for future threats.

The probes are based on the sequence of the pathogen, so they are highly specific and sensitive. Other groups have tested our bur-drug pairs and validated our methods. We’re looking forward to our FDA clinical tests.

Find the right treatment

Once the pathogen is known, the next step is to identify the treatment. Currently, physicians are often limited to starting patients on the most likely antibiotic before complete laboratory tests can confirm which treatment will work. This process requires full laboratory equipment and 3-4 days.

GeneCapture is developing a method that uses the sample provided to test a range of different antibiotics and identifies which treatment will work in 90 minutes. This method is still in testing, and it is showing strong early results.

We want to make a BIG difference on a global scale. By reducing the time it takes to identify infection and providing an Antimicrobial Susceptibility Test on-site, we will change health care. Antimicrobial drugs are life savers – but only if they are used when needed; otherwise, they weaken our bodies to future threats. We bring fast decision-making directly to the patient. Infections must be treated quickly.
