Epidemiologist and Research Associate at University of Regina

David McIver, PhD, is an epidemiologist and global health consultant with experience in infectious disease surveillance, field diagnostics, One Health programs, and implementation of health programs in resource-limited settings. He is based at the University of Regina, where he supports research partnerships focused on rapid diagnostics, genomic surveillance, and applied pathogen detection.

As an advisor to GeneCapture, David works with the team to identify and develop strategic applications for the CAPTURE platform beyond conventional clinical diagnostics. His focus includes international and low- and middle-income country markets, Canadian partnerships, companion animal and veterinary diagnostics, antimicrobial resistance surveillance applications, and deployment models for decentralized testing. He brings experience across human and animal health systems, helping translate GeneCapture’s technology into practical use cases for public health, agriculture, global health, and field-based surveillance.
